What is IAAP?
IAAP is the world's largest association of administrative professionals, offering professional development,
leadership training and networking opportunities for administrative professionals in all venues. IAAP is a non-profit,
volunteer association.
Why do administrative professionals need an association?
Joining a professional organization demonstrates your commitment to your career (think about lawyers, doctors, accountants,
etc. - they all have professional associations). Isn't work rewarding when we do it with enthusiasm and give it
our best every day? With IAAP, you will gain knowledge, confidence and contacts that will help you advance professionally.
IAAP works to build a professional image of administrative professionals in the workplace.
Who can join?
Membership is open to all persons working in the administrative field, along with business educators, students, firms
and educational institutions. There is no test to take or sponsorship required. However, through IAAP, qualified
professionals can test for the CPS and/or CAP certification ratings, the benchmark of excellence in the administrative profession,
and they can also achieve the Member of Excellence designation.
Where and when do you meet?
The Land Run Professionals Chapter of IAAP meets in the Alumni Conference Room of McElroy Hall on the OSU campus, at
the corner of McFarland and Farm Road. We meet on the second Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. (Date, time and
location could change due to the speaker.)
Is there a cost to attend a meeting?
There is no cost to attend a chapter meeting. Our meetings consist of an education program and short business session.
We urge you to attend a couple of our meetings to see if we are a fit for you before you join.
How much does it cost to become a member?
Membership varies depending on which category you qualify for: Professional, Associate or Student. Many members
successfully ask their employer to consider IAAP annual membership as part of their training budget for the year. ( Click here for additional information.)
What do I get with a membership?
- Access to a network of proactive administrative professionals, not only at the chapter level, but also at the division
and International level.
- Seminars and workshops through monthl chapter meetings and other dedicated events throughout the year.
- Access to free on-line Cyberseminars through International headquarters.
- OfficePRO magazine several times a year.
Will I have to volunteer?
Volunteering is not a requirement of membership; however, it is encouraged. Members find that being active in various
committees or leadership positions are ways to increase confidence, create a huge network of peers, learn new skills, and
feel good about themselves.
What is the CPS/CAP certification program?
The CPS/CAP program is a self-study certification program achieved through a two-day exam administered each May and November.
There are four parts: Finance and Business Law, Office Systems and Administration, Management, and Organizational Planning.
(The CPS/CAP exams for administrative professionals is equivalent to an accountant sitting for the CPA exam.)
