The Land Run Professionals Chapter donates
and assists with the following community/civic and IAAP projects:
Professional
Clothes Closet - LRP members gather items for the Altrusa Clothes Closet that distributes donated business-appropriate
clothing to Meridian Technology Center business students in need. These items are distributed once a year and the
distribution period also includes mock job interviews, and hair/makeup sessions. This allows the individuals to
be interview-ready and helps them look and feel their best when they go job hunting. (Donations may be dropped
off at Costumes, Balloons & More on Perkins Road.)
Angel Tree – After
the Christmas social, members carpool to Wal-Mart where they Christmas shop for individuals who
have previously been selected by one of our members from the store's Angel Tree. Members donate
funds and the chapter matches the total donations. This allows us to shop for more individuals and/or purchase more
items for them.
IAAP Retirement Trust Foundation
- The trust was formed and operates exclusively for charitable purposes - i.e. for the primary
purpose of acquiring, maintaining and operating homes for needy and elderly administrative professionals and otherwise assisting these
individuals. The demand for comfortable, affordable housing for retired administrative professionals is growing,
and the RTF seeks to help fill that need with Vista Grande, its retirement home.
Research & Education Foundation
- The foundation was created both to advance knowledge of the administrative profession
and to provide educational services to administrative professionals. The R&E Foundation is committed to creating
educational opportunities and providing research support to further the career development of administrative professionals.
Student Chapter Program
- Student chapters are formed in high schools with administrative careers programs, in vocational technical schools that are
not accredited, or in accredited post-secondary institutions. Students have access to some of the same benefits of the
association as other members do. They are also encouraged to join local IAAP chapters to share in networking opportunities,
to participate in programs, seminars and workshops, to receive training, and participate in fellowship.
